ArrayComm is a wireless communications software company founded in San Jose, California, in Silicon Valley. Co-founded in 1992 by Martin Cooper, Chairman and well-respected pioneer of the wireless industry. The company's major shareholder is the Ygomi group, under principal investor T. Russell Shields. The current headquarters is outside of Chicago, Illinois specifically Oakbrook, Illinois.

ArrayComm provides multi-antenna signal processing (MAS) software for wireless communications systems, often referred to as Smart Antennas or MIMO. The company's hardware solutions enjoyed their greatest commercial successes in Australia and South Africa under the iBurst brand name which continues to be owned by Kyocera. Software solutions offered by ArrayComm are still under development. Patent-licensing continues to prove to be a surprisingly strong source of revenue.

The technology claims to improve wireless subscriber experiences and the economics of radio networks. The solution is independent of the network system and supports industry standards including WCDMA, High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA), GSM, WiMAX, Personal Handy-phone System (PHS), and High Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access (HC-SDMA).

[edit] Jargon-Free

In a crowded room, you can focus your hearing on the person with whom you're speaking and effectively ignore the conversations around you. Conversely, if you're trying to get the attention of someone down the street, you can cup your hands around your mouth, directing your voice to improve the odds of being heard and understood. MAS is software that allows wireless systems (both end user devices and carrier equipment) to communicate clearly, by solving performance problems that result from the current inefficient radio 'conversations'. Multiple antennas using this software doubles or quadruples performance, by increasing the selective listening and transmission capabilities.

[edit] Alumni Group

Since inception, the company has had a large contingent of employees who have maintained close contact with each other owing to the paucity of companies in the mobile wireless space. Initially this group was hosted by Yahoo, though more recently it has been reestablished as a LinkedIn Group to facilitate business networking.
