The 3 arrondissements of the Pyrénées-Orientales department are:

  1. Arrondissement of Céret, (subprefecture: Céret) with 5 cantons and 40 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 61,056 in 1990, and was 66,624 in 1999, an increase of 9.12%.
  2. Arrondissement of Perpignan, (prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales department: Perpignan) with 20 cantons and 86 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 265,223 in 1990, and was 287,272 in 1999, an increase of 8.31%.
  3. Arrondissement of Prades, (subprefecture: Prades) with 6 cantons and 100 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 37,517 in 1990, and was 38,907 in 1999, an increase of 3.7%.
