Begleitkommando-SS was a special Schutzstaffel unit created to guard German government and Nazi Party buildings.[1] It was also used to escort high ranking government officials.[2] The soldiers that served in the Begleitkommando-SS were considered highly trained special ops that were trained by the Schutzstaffel to provide protection for high ranking military officials, such as Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, Reichsführer-SS, and Reichsministers.[3][4]

The main protectors of Hitler were the SS-Begleitkommando des Führers.[4] This unit was comprised of the top eight members of the Begleitkommando-SS. The Begleitkommando-SS cooperated with other units and organizations to protect people and buildings. During peace time, it mainly worked with the police forces, like the Gestapo.[3]
