The constituency comprises the Borough of Dún Laoghaire and the district electoral divisions of Ballybrack, Dundrum, Glencullen, Milltown, Rathfarnham, Rathmichael, Stillorgan and Whitechurch.[citation needed]

[edit] History

The constituency was created in 1948, under the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1947, for the 1948 general election to Dáil Éireann. It initially returned three TDs but under the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1961, it was increased to four from 1961 onwards. It was abolished under the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1974 with effect from the 1977 general election, and replaced by the new constituency of Dún Laoghaire.
