The Edoid languages are some 25 or 30 languages spoken in Southern Nigeria, predominantly in the former Bendel State. The Edoid group belongs to Volta-Niger branch of Niger-Congo; the name of the group derives from its most widely spoken member, Edo (5 million speakers). Edoid can be divided into four subfamilies: Delta, North-Central, Northwestern, and Southwestern:
- Delta: Three minor languages, including Degema
- North-Central: Includes Edo, the language of Benin City, and a dozen other languages, including Yekhee and Ghotuo
- Northwestern: Ten minor languages, including Okpamheri
- Southwestern: Five languages, including Isoko and Urhobo
