Description

Flag depicting the dynastic Arms of the Trebizond branch of the Komnenos [Comnenus, Comneno] family (c. 1204-1461). When Constantinople fell during the Fourth Crusade to the Western European and Venetian Crusaders, the Empire of Trebizond was one of the three smaller Greek states that emerged from the wreckage, along with the Empire of Nicaea and the Despotate of Epiros.
