Ilmajoki (pronunciation IPA: [ˈilmɑjoki]; Swedish: Ilmola [ilmolɑ]) is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The population of Ilmajoki is 11,660 (31 March 2009)[2] and the municipality covers an area of 576.9 km2 (222.7 sq mi) of which 2.89 km2 (1.12 sq mi) is inland water (1 January 2009).[1] The population density is 20.21 /km² (52.3 /sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Some notable persons originally from Ilmajoki include the javelin thrower Tero Pitkämäki, the wrestler Marko Yli-Hannuksela and the historical figure Jaakko Ilkka. Seinäjoki Airport is located at Ilmajoki.
