Utajärvi is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 3,040 (31 March 2009)[2] and covers an area of 1,736.71 square kilometres (670.55 sq mi) of which 65.71 km2 (25.37 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 1.82 inhabitants per square kilometre (4.7 /sq mi). The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

The municipaly is probably best known of the moraine region of Rokua, which is a popular summer and sports resort.

The popular rockgroup 22-Pistepirkko was formed in Utajärvi in 1980.
