Uusimaa, or Nyland in Swedish (New Land), is a region (maakunta / landskap) in Southern Finland province. It borders the regions Finland Proper, Tavastia Proper, Päijänne Tavastia and Eastern Uusimaa. Finland's capital, Helsinki, is located centrally in Uusimaa, making it by far the most populated of the regions.
