This is page is a temporary forum for the processing of username changes that relate to single unified login (SUL). We are glad to deal with your SUL-related concerns. However, please be patient, since we're still working out the bugs in the process. The nature of the process depends on your situation:

  • If you already have an account on this wiki and would simply like it renamed to match the name of your global account, see these instructions.
  • If you already have an account on this wiki and would like it renamed to match your global account, but the name you want is already taken, see these instructions.
  • If you don't have an account on this wiki yet, and would like to create one to match your global account, but the name is already taken, see these instructions.

If you are not renaming an account to resolve a single user login conflict, please direct your request to one of the normal Changing username pages.

[edit] Simple rename

  • Log in to your present account.
  • Click here to place a request.
    • Replace the text "CURRENT" with your present username.
    • Replace "NEW" with the username to which you wish to be renamed.
    • Fill in a reason where indicated but do not add anything in the "subject/headline" box.
  • Make sure that you have spelled both names correctly. Save the page.
  • Check back periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Do not be surprised if you suddenly cannot log in to your old account; this just means that you should log in under your new name, as the request has been fulfilled.
  • Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed.

  • Log in to your present account.
  • Click here to place your request.
    • Replace "CURRENT NAME" with your current username.
    • Replace "REQUESTED NAME" with the username you wish to usurp.
    • You may include some reason for the change beneath the template if you wish. Leave the "Subject/headline" field blank.
  • Make sure both names are spelled correctly. Click "Save page".
  • Your request is now complete and ready to be processed. We will get to it as soon as we can.

[edit] Partial usurpation

  • If you do not have an account already at the English Wikipedia and have already unified your global account, you do not need to create one. You may place your request without logging in.
  • Click here to place your request.
    • Replace "REQUESTED NAME" with the username you wish to usurp.
    • Beneath the template, mention your home wiki and any other relevant information. Leave the "Subject/headline" field blank.
  • Make sure the name you want is spelled correctly. Click "Save page".
  • Your request is now complete and ready to be processed. We will get to it as soon as we can.

[edit] Notes

  • When the rename has been completed, your account will have been renamed, and any contributions you have made (including deleted contributions) will be reattributed to your new account as a background process. Your account preferences, watchlist contents, password, etc. will all be preserved, and your user and user talk pages will have been moved to the new name.
    Note: The process responsible for reallocating old contributions is currently dependent upon the job queue mechanism. As such, you may find old contributions do not immediately appear under your new account; this is perfectly normal. Updates should take at most a day to complete, although the length of time will vary according to the size of the job queue on this wiki, and the status of the server processes which process this queue.
  • The change will appear in the user rename log and the request will be moved to the archives in the interest of transparency. It is not possible to rename accounts without an entry being created in the log.
  • This change will not affect signatures you have already left on talk pages, or other places where you signed your username with ~~~~. Those pages will continue to display your signature (including the link to your old username) unless edited manually.
  • Be aware: Once you have been renamed, your old account will no longer exist and may potentially be recreated by a third party. This is true even if your old account pages have been redirected towards your new account. To guard against impersonation, you may wish to recreate the old account yourself.

I'm using SkyCaptain account in our local Turkish Wikipedia but i need also global one because i'm contributing with translations from English to Turkish and it'll be much more easy for me to reach and edit pages in global wiki. I took a look for global SkyCaptain, he looks not a very active user so i hope this usurp will be done.

The SkyCaptain on this wiki has made almost as many edits as you have on trwiki, and he has edited recently. I would prefer to engage him and refer him to this request before committing a rename.   • Reason: I'm moving towards using my current username as my name in professional contexts, so want to stop using it in others, such as Wikimedia. Clerk note: The target user exists here and at no- and it-wiki. You will have to request usurpation here (see WP:USURP) and at both no- and it-wiki to successfully create a SUL with this name. Searched for hours, looked on many pages, sorry, but I cannot seem the appropiate or correct procedure to request what I want to do. Please correct me and/or point me in the right direction, if this way chosen is wrong. REQUEST. I used the Special:MergeAccount to merge my accounts, but someone else are using my name on a few other accounts. I hold the largest edit count. I don't want to change my name, i want to merge or usurp these accounts if possible so I can continue to use my own name in all merged accounts and secondary to avoid my name being mistreated by impersonators. Thanks.

Clerk note: This page can only handle accounts on this wiki. Hi,

I am a Wikipedia user from Wikipedia (fr). I tried to unify my global account in order to be able to edit pages in English and German. It worked for the german version of Wikipedia, nonetheless, this nickname is already used on this wiki.

I tried to log in on this account with no success. This account has no email adress and has only one edit in 2006.

In order to make you sure that this IP is linked to the Hiryu account I wrote "Try to unify his global account" on my page. Hiryu's page

Could you please allow me to unify my global account ?

I am actually seeking to rename my unified account on other Wikipedias. I already changed my name on English Wikipedia, but it wasn't until yesterday did I realize that my global account was not renamed, and I accidentally created another account on Chinese Wikipedia.
