This page is for requesting that a page, image or template be fully protected, semi-protected, move-protected or unprotected. Please read up on the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection is usually used only to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. After a page has been protected, the protection is listed in the page history and logs with a short description indicating why it was protected, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. Further discussion should take place on the Talk page of the article. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins do not revert back to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
If you would like to request a page to be protected or unprotected, please follow the following steps:

[edit] Current requests for protection
Place requests for either semi-protection, full protection, move protection, or create protection at the TOP of this section. Check here if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
| Generally speaking, Wikipedia's Main Page featured article will not be fully or semi-protected. Protection will only be considered in the event of extremely high levels of vandalism - more than is usually observed for Today's Featured Article. |
[edit] Whitesburg, Kentucky (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Page blanking four times today by IP and new users. Willking1979 (talk) 23:11, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Trials involving Silvio Berlusconi (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
semi-protection. Systematic edits by unregistered user attempting to impose own POV and using inappropriate tone in the discussion page, not aimed at reaching consensus. These changes have been undone by several other users to restore NPOV and stick to the facts but the anonymous user keeps modifying the page in what has definitely become an edit war. I'd like to ask for semi-protection to encourage contributors to become accountable for their own edits and POV and hopefully promote a civil discussion in the talk page based on factual evidence. --DarTar (talk) 22:31, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 1 week. After 1 week the page will be automatically unprotected. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 22:56, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
full-protection dispute, single editor, User:Jonhan continues removing valid, reliably sourced content because he disagrees with the view of the person cited. Multiple editors have asked him to stop, but he continues and we have edit war ensuing. Asking full protection as he is working both under his username and an IP and has indicated he will continue removing the content. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 22:20, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sinhalese people (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
semi-protection vandalism, 76.111.25.195 keeps deleting "Genetic Relationships" section of Sinhalese people article. Despite multiple warnings on Talk Page, Article discussion page and edit summaries. Wikinpg (talk) 19:49, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's not clear to me that this is vandalism; it looks more like a content dispute. In any case, all of the disputed edits are made by a single IP address, and this article has only had about 15 edits in July, so certainly no need to put restrictions on the article. Perhaps WP:3RR might be appropriate soon, but not this. -- Deville (Talk) 20:18, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Chicken Fillet Baguette (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

[edit] Marwa El-Sherbini (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Temporary semi-protection. 77.20.72.238 keeps inserting non-NPOV phrasing; I changed it back three times now; the last two times with a change comment referring to Talk:Marwa_El-Sherbini#non-NPOV_in_Initial_media_reports_section where I laid out how he/she can insert the referred view: not reporting the view as a fact but reporting it as the view of a source/sources of his choice. But apparently 77.20.72.238 read neither the history page not the talk page. I hope temporary semi-protection will make this IP user take notice of the talk page and so engage constructively. Tschild (talk) 22:01, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Note: the IP is in the Kabel Deutschland range http://www.db.ripe.net/whois?form_type=simple&full_query_string=&searchtext=77.20.72.238 - it might be enough to semiprotect against the IP range 77.20.0.0 - 77.21.255.255 only Tschild (talk) 22:28, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Question: Why does that IP (77.20.72.238) have absolutely no warnings or notices placed on their talk page to encourage them to see the article's talk page to discuss the changes? Nja247 09:05, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the suggestion. There may be a slim chance that the user may notice a note on the IP's user page even as he/she apparently did not look at the history notes or the talk page. I have now posted a note to that effect on User_talk:77.20.72.238 Tschild (talk)

Declined – Consider dispute resolution. This is a content dispute and locking out only the IP would be wrong. Either sort the dispute through proper channels, ie talk pages and the dispute resolution process, or re-request full protection until dispute is resolved. Nja247 08:56, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Current requests for unprotection
If you simply want to make spelling corrections or add information to a protected page that is not disputed, and you are not involved in any disputes there, consider simply adding {{Editprotected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. See the list of current {{Editprotected}} requests.
If you do want a page that exists unprotected, please try to ask the protecting admin first before making a request here.
Check here if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Please unprotect per consensus on talk page.
Unprotected In the future, please use {{la|<article name>}} for articles. -Jeremy (v^_^v Tear him for his bad verses!) 20:25, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Current requests for edits to a protected page
- When making requests here, either:
- Provide a good reason for a substantial edit to a protected page. These are only done in exceptional circumstances, or when there is very clear consensus for an edit and continued protection. Please link to the talk page where consensus was reached.
- Demonstrate that there is a clear dispute over a protected page, and that a specific dispute tag would be appropriate to add. Please link to the talk page where the dispute exists.
Note: Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add {{Editprotected}}, {{Editsemiprotected}} or {{Request edit}} to the article's talk page if you would like an inconsequential change rather than requesting it here, though most of these should simply wait for unprotection.

Unprotection. Young Ace is the name of a new (first issue published in July 2009) manga anthology title from Kadokawa Shoten that is now home to some significant Manga, including MPD Psycho and Neon Genesis Evangelion. [edit] An hero (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Page has been protected for a long time, supposedly due to the fact that it was an implausible typo for suicide. Actually, it is a *chan/ED meme about suicides for seemingly silly reasons. For example, a kid who committed suicide because his iPod got stolen would be called "an hero". This meme stems from a kid who actually did commit suicide for that reason, as when a group of /b/tards (users of any given /b/ (random) board, for those who don't know) were trolling the kid's MySpace, one of his friends accidentally called him "an hero" rather than "a hero". I wouldn't be surprised if people occasionally look the meme up here, and I think it would be suitable for the "an hero" page to redirect to suicide. 24.87.87.122 (talk) 23:53, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

- Are you joking? --NE2 16:38, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- The recent move request seems to have been closed with no consensus to move the article. Any reason why it should not be move protected (or, will you not move it)?--RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 16:44, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- No, I won't move it now. It is worth noting, however, that the recent move request was to "Washington Metrorail". This had nothing to do with my move, which was to "Metrorail (Washington, D.C.)", a name the article was at for about a year before someone else moved it back to the present ambiguous name. --NE2 17:02, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 19:44, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ashley Tisdale discography (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Semi-protection, Constant unsourced edits by an ip user. On multiple occasions there have been several deletions of alot of specific data which is crucial to the structure of the page and not protection it would allow more vandalism from ip users to delete and add more information at there own accord and with a new album coming from the particular artist it would make it much more common and much more disruptive and destructive to the validity of the page also. Nbeau1989 (talk) 07:44, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Declined – There is not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection at this time. If there's significantly more disruptive activity in the future, consider relisting. There are some good IP edits in there, needs to be monitored. Woody (talk) 22:45, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Temporary full protection dispute, Continued dispute over attempts to include multiple non-free images; asking protection while discussion at WP:NONFREE attempts to resolve the issue to avoid the continuing edit warring. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 06:53, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Declined, I don't think there is enough activity or edit warring to justify full protection at the moment. Let the discussion run its course and report anyone who is reverting. Woody (talk) 23:01, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Tha Carter IV (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, daily vandalism since the 6th. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 06:49, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Declined – There is not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection at this time. If there's significantly more disruptive activity in the future, consider relisting. Edits seem to be quickly reverted, not a lot generally to cause me huge concern, and further I've warned the most recent IP's who weren't given notices. Nja247 11:09, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

semi-protection, besides the usual IP vandalism/unconstructive edits, IP's are improperly modifying the infobox image against longtime consensus. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 06:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection, If you'll see the talk page, you can see this user intends on a very long, if not indefinite WikiBreak, userpage and talk page may become a target for vandalism, as some vandalism has already been reverted . ---Scarce |||| Talk -Contrib.--- 04:48, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Declined. User pages aren't protected preemptively, especially without the user's knowledge. If it becomes a heavy vandalism target, bring back here. Tan | 39 04:51, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, IPs have been vandalising tons in the past few hours and they're all different. At least 6 different IPs have done it lately and more to come I'm sure. . GrooveDog (talk) (Review) 04:26, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] List of Naruto characters (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Temporary semi-protection, There are are number of edited directed at one of the characters all by IPs who are adding basically the same information. When we allowed for the addition of one item (which still needs to be cited, but can be verified), it simply emboldened them to make even more contriversial claims. As the ip edits all have to do with the same character, I think a SP is warranted since the edits seem to be the same.陣内Jinnai 23:06, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Kristen Stewart (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Temporary semi-protection or even protection too much rumors by tabloids. "dating" was not a real problem, but "pregnancy" rumors could really hurt. I think we need a few weeks of semi-protection. Barraki (talk) 21:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Constant vandalism from IPs, useless edits. Also news-like edits. Everytime I nominate this page for protection it keeps getting turned down, we need it now for at least a week. Thank you. ---Scarce |||| Talk -Contrib.--- 21:32, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
User(s) blocked I also warned a few others. I will watch the page, though I do notice there are a few highly active members and other admins that also watch the page, thus protection seems un-needed at this time as edits can be reverted quickly. Nja247 10:59, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] User talk:Ostateczny Krach Systemu Korporacji (edit|user page|history|links|watch|logs)
Temporary full protection user talk of blocked user, Seems obvious he isn't going to change and is instead continuing to use his userpage to rant and rave. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive198#Review of HanzoHattori continued if illegal editing for proposed conditions of unban; latest ranting in the Heyo section obviously goes against this. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:26, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Note: I'm inclined to decline the request. Let them go on about nothing, and if you ignore them they're likely to stop as they'd be no point. I'm open to another admin taking other action though should they feel it justified. Nja247 10:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi protection Blatant vandalism, numerous edits by anon IPs since the page becoming FA a while ago, recommend a 1-3 day full protection to guard against these pesky, disruptive joy seekers. --Dave1185 (talk) 20:47, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Fully protected for a period of 1 week. After 1 week the page will be automatically unprotected. Seems to be more of a content dispute. Some of the material is blatantly unencyclopedic, but other stuff is not so clear. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
